Orders & Shipping
In-stock items typically ship within [1–3 business days]. Many of our pieces are handmade, made to order, or specially sourced — these take longer, so please check the individual listing for its estimated production time, or allow [X weeks] for made-to-order items.

[Yes — we ship worldwide. / We currently ship within the United States.] For international orders, please note that any customs fees, import taxes, or duties are the buyer’s responsibility and are not included in our prices or shipping charges

Once your order ships, we’ll email you a tracking number so you can follow it to your door.

Our hand-carved furniture and antique pieces are large, heavy, and irreplaceable, so they ship by freight or specialized carrier and are arranged individually. [Please contact us for a shipping quote before purchasing, or we’ll reach out after your order.]

Returns & Refunds

Our return terms vary by product type, because a handwoven scarf and a one-of-a-kind antique can’t be treated the same way:

  • Handmade goods (textiles, baskets, leather, jewelry): returnable within 14 days of delivery.
  • Furniture & one-of-a-kind antiques: inspect within 48 hours; returnable only if damaged or not as described, otherwise final sale.
  • Custom and made-to-order pieces: final sale.
  • Consumables and personal-care items (teas, sponges): final sale for hygiene.

Full details are on our Shipping & Returns page.

The simple rule: if the problem is ours, we pay; if it’s a change of mind, you pay. We cover return shipping for items that arrive damaged, incorrect, or not as described. For change-of-mind returns, the buyer covers return shipping.

Contact us within 48 hours of delivery at info@bozzena.com with photos of the item and its packaging. We’ll cover return shipping and repair, replace, or refund it.

Custom and made-to-order items are made just for you, so they’re final sale. We’ll confirm all the details with you before production so you receive exactly what you envisioned.

Products & Authenticity

Yes. We source directly from named artisans across Africa — never anonymous warehouses. Our mudcloth comes from a bogolan studio in Bamako, Mali; our leather is hand-tooled by Ibrahim in Mali; our baskets are woven by Leonie in Senegal and Salimata’s cooperative in Ghana. We can tell you who made your piece and where.

Because it’s handmade. Slight variations in color, pattern, size, and texture are natural and are part of the authenticity and character of each piece — no two are exactly alike. For one-of-a-kind and antique items, the piece you receive is the exact one pictured.

Authentic handmade pieces show natural variation, honest construction (hand-dyed textiles show their pattern on the back; carvings show tool marks and grain), and real materials. You can read our full guide, “Authentic vs. Mass-Produced: How to Spot Real African Décor,” in our Journal.

Yes. Our vintage and antique pieces are sourced for their history and sold “as is,” in their existing condition. Signs of age, wear, and prior use are part of their story, and we do our best to describe and photograph each one accurately.

Custom Orders

Yes! Our artisan Leonie can weave baskets in nearly any style, shape, size, and color. Send us your measurements and your vision at info@bozzena.com, and we’ll have it made by hand just for you. Designers can also request custom orders through our Trade Program.

We’ll talk through your measurements, colors, and details, confirm everything with you, and then your piece goes into production. Because custom items are made specifically for you, they’re final sale.

Product Care

Spot clean gently or hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent — avoid bleach and harsh cleaners, which can affect the natural dyes. A little color may release on the first wash, which is normal for naturally dyed cloth. Air dry, and for large or special pieces, professional cleaning is the safest choice.

For baskets, dust gently and keep them out of prolonged moisture; you can lightly reshape them by hand if needed. For leather, keep it dry, wipe with a soft cloth, and condition occasionally to keep it supple.

Trade & Wholesale

Yes. Our Trade Program offers interior designers, decorators, and collectors trade pricing, first access to new and one-of-a-kind pieces, and personal sourcing. Apply through our Trade page.

Yes, to select boutiques and retailers, on our repeatable handmade goods (textiles, baskets, leather, jewelry, teas). See our Wholesale page for terms and to apply.
